Solution

A value or a set of values that, when substituted for the unknowns in an equation or inequality, makes the mathematical statement true.

Example

For the linear algebraic equation $2x + 4 = 10$, the solution is $x = 3$ because substituting $3$ back into the equation gives $2(3) + 4 = 10$.
