Scale Factor
A scale factor is a number used as a multiplier to scale, or resize, a figure. In geometry, it is the ratio of the lengths of corresponding sides of two similar figures, determining how much larger or smaller the image is compared to the original object.
Example
If a triangle with a side length of $4 \text{ cm}$ is enlarged by a scale factor of $3$, the corresponding side length of the new similar triangle will be $4 \times 3 = 12 \text{ cm}$.
