Ratio

A ratio is a mathematical relationship comparing two or more quantities of the same kind, indicating how many times one value contains or is contained within the other. Ratios can be expressed using a colon, the word "to", or as a fraction.

Example

If a classroom has 15 girls and 10 boys, the ratio of girls to boys is $15:10$. This ratio can be simplified by dividing both sides by 5: $$ 3:2 $$
