Logarithm
A logarithm is the mathematical operation that determines the exponent to which a specific base number must be raised to produce a given number. It is the inverse operation of exponentiation.
Example
Since $10^3 = 1000$, the base-$10$ logarithm of $1000$ is $3$, written as $\log_{10}(1000) = 3$.
