Exponent

An exponent (or power) is a number that indicates how many times a base number or variable is multiplied by itself. It is written as a small superscript number to the upper right of the base.

Example

In the expression $2^3$, $3$ is the exponent, indicating that the base $2$ is multiplied by itself three times ($2 \times 2 \times 2 = 8$).
