Origin

The origin is the fixed reference point in a coordinate system where the axes intersect. In a standard two-dimensional Cartesian coordinate plane, it is the point where the horizontal x-axis and vertical y-axis cross, possessing a value of zero for all coordinates.

Example

In a 2D Cartesian coordinate system, the origin is represented by the ordered pair $(0, 0)$.
