Mean
The mean, often called the average, is a measure of central tendency found by adding all the numbers in a data set and then dividing by the total number of values.
Example
For the data set $2, 4, 6, 8$, the mean is $\frac{2 + 4 + 6 + 8}{4} = \frac{20}{4} = 5$.
