Decimal

A decimal is a number expressed in the base-10 numeral system, which includes a decimal point to separate the whole number part from the fractional part. Decimals are commonly used in everyday life, especially for currency and precise measurements.

Example

The fraction $\frac{1}{4}$ can be written as the decimal $0.25$. Another example is the number $12.34$, which consists of the whole number $12$ and the fractional part $0.34$ (or $\frac{34}{100}$).
